—a step-by-step tutorial to prove that anyone can create a watercolor accent wall
PureWow teamed up with Ace Hardware to create a branded content series “DIY Paint Hacks for Every Room in the House.”
This space was created for part four of the series, a step by step tutorial for the ever trending watercolor wall.
We featured Ace Hardware’s signature painting materials and I mixed a custom variety of cool blue tones with water to create the much needed dripping effect.
By layering these varying hues, I was able to show organic textures and mimic dimension on what was once a flat white wall.
I honed this technique by returning to my university days as a scenic painter and even had to recall my time as a theatre educator.
Not only did I have to create the painted effect on the spot in front of crew and clients; I was responsible for teaching our model the intricate step-by-step technique for the tutorial portion of the shoot.
Once the watercolor wall was complete, we styled the interiors for the final shot.
Combined with the warm wood and gold accessories, this cozy bedroom would inspire anyone to create their own DIY accent wall.
